Missiles in Cuba: Kennedy, Khrushchev, Castro and the 1962 Crisis (American Ways Series)
Published in Hardcover by Ivan R Dee, Inc. (June, 1997)
Author: Mark J. White
Average review score:

Clear-headed approach to an interesting topic
In the wake of the Iraq invasion, it is wise to remember an international incident nearly 40 years ago that also involved a third world country with weapons on mass destruction. Professor White shows that both the Kennedy and the Khrushchev adminstrations, after fumbling at the start, were able to balance and sort out a very deadly game of nuclear chess. The recent film Thirteen Days shows the American side, but White expands to show the game being played in the Kremlin as well.

Professor White writes in a very lean manner and his conclusions are well grounded. There is no better introduction to the issues behind and the events unfurling during the missile crisis.

Murder in the Castro: A Lou Spencer Mystery
Published in Paperback by New Victoria Pub (October, 1997)
Author: Elaine Beale
Average review score:

Read it even if you don't like mysteries!
Lou Spenser's dogged investigation into the death of her co-worker is suspenseful, witty, and sexy. If you have ever had a thing for lesbian cops this is your chance to indulge yourself! The characters are believable--you'll feel as though you know them, and you'll definitely want more Lou Spenser mysteries. Ms. Beale has to provide us with them!

Two very enthusiastic thumbs up, fine holiday fun!
Finally a well-written, fun and suspenseful mystery set in the Castro district of San Francisco. The author does an excellent job of telling the stories and lives of her gay and lesbian characters. I felt like I knew each character on an intimate level. By injecting the uniquely British wit of the protaganist, this book deals with the controversial issues of anti-gay crime, domestic violence, police brutality and political corruption while still being highly entertaining and humorous. I couldn't put it down! Buy this book as a holiday gift for your closest queer friends. They'll love you for it!

Ninja High School
Published in Paperback by Malibu Graphics (June, 1990)
Authors: Ben Dunn and Carlos Castro
Average review score:

Funny, suspenseful, romantic; all rolled into one!
Think back to when you were 16. Do you still remember how it was like to worry about stuff that would worry 16 year olds? Compared to Jeremy Feeple's character, I'll bet the problems that worried us all back then would never even come close! I've read Ninja High School since its earliest printings way back in 1990, and instantly fell in love with the story line! It's great to know that the series is still out there! Funny, suspenseful, romantic; all rolled into one great comic series that readers are sure to keep interest in for a long time! A must for all manga fans out there!

The Antarctic Press's greatest series - collected!
This is the first collection of the incredible comic book series, which contains issues #1-3 1/2. The story is awesome, a tale of intergalactic relations, rivalry of ninja clans, a 16 year old boy who is forced into a ridiculous mess against his will, and steam! Manga fans will love it.

Tango Discovery Series, Men's Technique
Published in CD-ROM by Tango Discovery (01 August, 2001)
Author: Mauricio Castro
Average review score:

Balance and Coordination
This CD starts with a theory section, which alone may be worth the cost of the CD as it lays out the Tango Discovery method of learning tango. This method is clear, concise and simple.

A short section called "Technique" follows: Don't skip it! This section tells you how to practice these exercises in the most efficient way. I have found through trial and error that this is the best way to approach them. Read this section more than once!

Next is the heart of the CD; 24 exercises presented as movie clips with short descriptions. The clips are categorized as Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.

Here is what I have noticed in my dancing after practicing these exercises for the last 6 months. The biggest improvement is balance. I am better able to lead and create styling without knocking my partner off balance. The next is coordination. My body seems to know better what to do. I don't have as many geeky moments when I improvise a new movement. The overall result is more confidence.

Covers a lot of ground
This is a great CD and a very quick read with lots of videos. The CD Rom covers a lot of ground I've never thought possible before.

100% reality
Even though this is a novel, Candelaria reflects the magnitude of drugs in the global economy. After reading this book I understood that we need to find a diferent way to fight this problem.
